Dear readers, the Aadhaar-PAN card linking deadline has been extended from 31 March to 30 June 2023. However, if you haven’t connected your Aadhaar to your PAN card, you need to pay a fine of 1,000 rupees in a single challan.
Repercussions on not linking Aadhaar with PAN
- No refund shall be made
- Interest will not be paid until the PAN remains inoperative
- After paying the 1,000 fine, the PAN will be operated in 30 days
- TDS will be collected at a higher rate.
The process to link Aadhaar with PAN card after the deadline
Well, the process is as usual. Visit the Income Tax India website.
See the left column where you can find the Link Aadhaar link. Click on the link and navigate to the next page.
Enter your PAN number and Adhaar card number properly in the given boxes.
Click validate option on the bottom page. If your PAN is already linked to your Aadhaar then stop the process and click ok. If your PAN is not linked with your Aadhaar, pay 1000 rs fees as specified through.
Select AY as 2024-25 and type Payment as Other Receipts (500) and click Continue.
Who is exempted to link Aadhaar with PAN card after the deadline
The are some categories in which some people are exempted from linking their Aadhaar to a PAN card.
- age > 80 years as of the date
- Residents of ASSAM, MEGHALAYA, or JAMMU & KASHMIR
- Not a citizen of India
Consequences of not linking Aadhar with Pan card after the deadline
A person shall not be able to file income tax returns using the inoperative PAN.
Pending returns will not be processed or completed
Pending refunds cannot be given to inoperative PANs.
